Floods Inundate Houses in Bukit Duri

Up to 60-centimeter-high floodwaters have deluged part of houses in Bukit Duri Urban Village, Tebet, since rain incessantly bombard the capital on Thursday (1/22).

"Since morning, the Ciliwung River overflowed and inundate our village," expressed Zaelani (42), one of citizens at RT 12/10 Bukit Duri, Thursday (1/22).

Bukit Duri area, precisely on Jalan Kampung Melayu Kecil is often inundated by overflowing waters from Ciliwung River. Yet locals are already familiar with such a situation. "We do not take refuge, besides the water level is not too high. Its high only reaches 60 centimeters," he told.

Tens of Houses in Rawajati Submerged

As quoted by beritajakarta.com, there has been no evacuation. Even, the Education School Foundation which usually gives students day off, still continuing the process of teaching and learning activities due to the classroom has not been inundated.

Similar condition is also spotted in some streets in South Jakarta. They are Jalan Abdullah Syafei towards Kuningan and Jalan Dr Sahardjo until Pancoran junction. No wonder, traffic congestion cannot be avoided.
